Resources and Assistance After the Recent Storms

Dear SIUE Community,

The severe storms that moved through the St. Louis region yesterday left a trail of destruction, devastation, and heartache for thousands of people. Unfortunately, some people within the SIUE community are dealing with damage to their homes, displacement, and other unexpected hardships today.

As we learn more about the storm’s impact, I want to assure you that SIUE is committed to supporting affected members of our campus community.

If you, someone on your team, or a student is personally impacted, please know that there are support resources available:

SIUE’s Cougar Cupboard will be open on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1-3pm to assist students, faculty, and staff in need of food, hygiene items, and other essentials during this difficult time. Students are encouraged to reach out to deanofstudents@siue.edu for additional basic needs support. Students may also be referred for support by submitting a CARE Report.

I also invite those who want to offer assistance to consider contributing to the following funds to support students in need:

As we continue to explore additional avenues of support for faculty, staff, and students directly impacted by the storm, I encourage you to consider volunteering or supporting recovery efforts through the United Way of Greater St. Louis. United Way is actively coordinating relief efforts and providing resources to storm victims.

Our hearts go out to all who have been affected. SIUE is a strong community and part of a resilient St. Louis region. We support one another, especially in times of crisis. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has been working tirelessly to assist those in need. Please take care of yourselves and one another.

Sincerely,

James T. Minor, PhD
