Pillar #2 – Student Success and Inclusive Excellence
Commitment
As a community, SIUE is committed to embodying a “student-ready” campus, focused on closing equity gaps, and ensuring that our students achieve their educational goals as they become change agents for a better future.
Proposed Goals
SIUE will be a national leader among peers. The University will fulfill its promise to support student success at all levels by reaching 90% retention, a four-year graduation rate of 45% and a six-year graduation rate of 75%, while ensuring that equity gaps are closed. Additionally, SIUE will achieve Carnegie Classification for Social and Economic Mobility.
Strategic Objectives
- Support student success through engaging curricular and co-curricular activities that reflect SIUE’s commitment to inclusive excellence.
- Develop and enhance high impact experiential learning activities early in the curriculum and ensure that every undergraduate completes at least two high impact practices before graduation.
- Ensure excellence in graduate education such that 75% or more of graduate and professional students complete at least one high impact practice.
- Reduce DFW rates in critical courses with course design transformations, learning support and student engagement.
- Execute critical elements of the Anti-Racism Task Force recommendations.
- Maintain or achieve accreditation as well as national and global recognition for quality academic programming.
- Share outcomes through new dashboards while increasing campus awareness of gaps as faculty and staff work to ensure equity and success for all students.
