Commitment
SIUE will be recognized for creating change makers and cultivating the skills and dispositions for all members of our community to transform their disciplines, solve pressing social problems, and make a difference in their communities, workplaces, and all arenas of civic life. We will engage in equity-minded and authentic partnerships that leverage the University’s resources to contribute to more just and sustainable communities. The University will partner with industry leaders and employers to ensure that the skills, knowledge, and experiences of students, faculty and staff can be fully realized as we contribute to the public good.
Proposed Goals
SIUE will be a national model for equity-minded community engagement. We will expand the number of faculty, staff and students participating in meaningful and collaborative partnerships with communities. Building on our strengths, SIUE will develop and nurture strategic relationships to effect positive change in the University, region, nation, and world.
Strategic Objectives
- Develop and strengthen opportunities for students to partner externally to learn through professional practice, engagement and experience.
- Develop and strengthen external faculty, staff and institutional partnerships that build on community assets and reflect authentic and meaningful relationships with communities.
- Ensure external partnerships represent values of equity, inclusion, access, and sustainability.
- Increase campus and external awareness of University accomplishments. Develop and strengthen opportunities to provide access to personal and professional development.
- Strengthen relationships and support of students, faculty and staff at the East St. Louis campus and enhance pathways for students to achieve their advanced educational goals at SIUE.
- Plan and launch strategic programming in collaboration with community partners in Belleville.
