Overview

Students who are curious about the world around them and interested in the environment, sustainability, culture and technology should consider majoring in geography at SIUE. A major in geography exposes students to international issues and perspectives. In addition to regional courses in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America, geography majors study issues of global concern, including climate change, economic development and international migration.

What can I do with a degree in geography?

SIUE offers the only geography program in the St. Louis metropolitan area and as such, our graduates are in demand for positions in the region’s growing geospatial workforce.

Hands-on Learning

Geography students have the opportunity to work closely with our diverse faculty members who specialize in human geography, physical geography and geographic techniques such as cartography, GIS and remote sensing. Students are also encouraged to gain professional experience through internship opportunities and to study abroad to help broaden their understanding of the world.
