School of Business
John Oeltjen
John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/general accountancy in 1975. He also completed the Executive Management Programs at Stanford University and Washington University in St. Louis. He is highly respected with a professional career that spans 30 years. He currently serves as a shareholder and Director of Risk Advisory Services with Mueller Prost PC in St. Louis. John is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of CPAs. John is also an active participant in numerous professional, civic and charitable organizations including the SIUE Foundation, having served as Board President and Chair of the Audit Committee.
College of Arts & Sciences
Congressman William Enyart
Congressman Enyart is a 1974 graduate of SIUE, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and Government. He would receive his Law Degree from Southern Illinois Carbondale in 1979. Bill is a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Air Force who would later become a member of the Illinois National Guard. In 2000, Bill received his Master of Science degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College in Pennsylvania. He would eventually be named the adjutant general of the Illinois National Guard overseeing the largest oversea deployment of Illinois National Guard troops since World War Two. After retiring in 2012, Bill ran a successful campaign for the Illinois 12th Congressional District Seat.
Deborah Slagle
Deborah graduated from SIUE with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1989. She would join Sigma Aldrich prior to her graduation as an analytical laboratory technician. Over the next 25 years, she would literally move up the ranks of the corporation serving in roles ranging from technical recruiter, director of process improvement, director of operations and new product transfer to her current position of Vice President of North American Operations. Deborah has also opened the door at Sigma Aldrich for SIUE students seeking internships and positions. Deborah also earned her MBA from Washington University in 2013.
School of Dental Medicine
Dr. Luanne McClean
Dr. McClean earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree in 1980 and maintains a private dental practice in Quincy, Illinois. Luanne is an active participant in all levels of organized dentistry. She is currently the Immediate Past President of the Illinois State Dental Society, president of the T.L. Gilmer Dental Society and a delegate and an alternate to the ISDS House of Delegates. Luanne is also the past president of the American of General Dentistry and the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry. Among other areas of involvement, Luanne can include service as a fellow in the International Academy of Dentists and an alternate delegate to the Academy’s House of Delegates.
School of Education
Dr. Mary Kay Armour
Dr. Armour received her MSEd in Elementary Education in 1975 and her Doctor of Education in Instructional Process in 1987. Her career spans teaching elementary school in Illinois to adjunct professor teaching law enforcement topics at Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland. Mary Kay currently serves as a Supervisory Instructional System Specialist in the Academic Process Branch with the Department of Homeland Security – U.S. Secret Service.
School of Engineering
Vicki LaRose, PE
Vicki received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1990. She was also awarded a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from the Missouri School of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla). Vicki began her professional career as a project manager with Sverdrup Corporation in St. Louis (now Jacobs Engineering). In 1996, Vicki founded Civil Design, Inc. (CDI) to provide responsive, quality-driven civil engineering services. She serves as the company’s president. She is a registered Professional Engineer in Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky. She also serves the SIUE School of Engineering through her role on the Advisory Council.
School of Nursing
Barbara Wagner
Barb was among those who graduated in the first class of the SIUE School of Nursing in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She would devote her career to providing outstanding health care to the residents of the Red Bud, Illinois area. Barb served as the Vice President Patient Care Services at St. Clement Health Service and Red Bud Regional Hospital. She would be named the Chief Nurse Officer at Red budge Regional Hospital, a position she would hold until her retirement. She has been a dedicated supporter of the SIUE School of Nursing and it students, serving as a long standing member of the SON Advisory Council, of which she is now Secretary.
School of Pharmacy
The School of Pharmacy will induct its first member in 2019 on the tenth anniversary of its first graduating class.
Graduate School
The SIUE Graduate School will welcome its first inductee in 2015.
