Jose Licon
I was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, where I lived until I came to the US at age 25. I attained a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature from the Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua in 2006. That same year I began a master’s program on Latin American Literature in the New Mexico State University, a degree that I received two years later. From 2008 to 2015 I attended Washington University in St. Louis and earned a Ph.D. in Romance Languages from it in 2016. In my dissertation I worked on Spanish medieval poetry. Before I started teaching at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2017, I had the opportunity to also work at Webster University and Saint Louis University. I have always enjoyed teaching.
