Nancy Huyck
Nancy L. Huyck is a Professor and the Chair of the Department of Public Administration and Policy Analysis at SIUE. Nancy holds both an M.P.A. and D.P.A. degree in Public Administration from the University of Illinois Springfield.
Dr. Huyck previously served for years as the MPA Internship Director. For the university, she served as the Chair of the Committee for Higher Administrator Performance Appraisal (SIUE CHAPA committee) from 2019-2023. She has also served on the SIUE Faculty Senate and the SIUE Welfare Council. Dr. Huyck volunteers her time for numerous other college and departmental service activities.
Dr. Huyck teaches both core and elective courses for the department. Her professional research interests revolve around radio interoperability, public HR management (program evaluation & HR performance appraisal) as well as environmental and sustainable practices for public agencies. Nancy has presented her research at professional annual conferences such as the American Society for Public Administration, Teaching in Public Administration, the Western Social Science Association, as well as the International Association of Business and Public Administration Disciplines. Nancy has published twice in the (IJBPA) International Journal of Business and Public Administration involving emergency response radio interoperability efforts.
Nancy also holds practical, applied public management experience. For the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, Dr. Huyck was an Executive 1 Manager within the Division of Administration at the North Grand Location in Springfield, Illinois. In this capacity, she daily managed an assortment of purchasing orders, expenditures and contractual obligations for the State of Illinois. She has worked for both the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Nancy lives in Granite City, Illinois with her husband Arnold and their son, Max. She enjoys spending time with her family, nature walks and traveling.
