Julie Pietroburgo
Dr. Julie Pietroburgo is Professor Emerita in the Department of Public Administration and Policy Analysis at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. For 20 years, Dr. Pietroburgo has taught graduate courses in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management. She has authored over 40 articles in academic journals primarily focusing on her research in the areas of nonprofit organizational management and change. In addition, she has been awarded or participated in the carrying out of grants totaling over $600,000. During her academic career, Dr. Pietroburgo was named a Fulbright Scholar teaching in the Czech Republic and a Fulbright Specialist consulting nonprofit organizations in Bulgaria, the Slovak Republic and Austria. Since her retirement from SIUE, she has been teaching management courses through Washington University’s Center for Technology and Leadership.
Prior to her academic career, Dr. Pietroburgo worked in the private sector as an Associate Director of Government Relations for Southwestern Bell and in the nonprofit sector as a Development Director for a community based hospice. She has served as a board member for many organizations including Family Hospice, Caritas Family Solutions, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters as well as on the Editorial Boards for two academic journals. She has earned a Ph.D. in Public Policy Studies from Saint Louis University, a Masters of Public Administration degree from SIUE and a Bachelors degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
With a career that has spanned the public, private and nonprofit sectors, Dr. Pietroburgo has recently returned to the classroom to pursue her artistic passions and plans to earn her Associate of Fine Arts degree in 2021.
