
Andrew Wesemann
Dr. Andrew Wesemann is an Associate Professor and Internship Director in the Department of Public Administration and Policy Analysis at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). He also serves as the Faculty Advisor for Pi Alpha Alpha, the global honor society for public affairs and administration, and is Editor of the Department’s newsletter.
Dr. Wesemann holds a Ph.D. and Master of Public Affairs (MPA) from the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs with a concentration in Public Financial Management and a Certificate in Business Administration from Indiana University-Bloomington.
His research focuses on strategic human capital management, organizational psychology, and public and nonprofit administration, with peer-reviewed publications appearing in journals such as Public Personnel Management, International Journal of Public Sector Management, and Journal of Public Management & Social Policy. His work emphasizes the intersection of workforce management and organizational performance in the public sector, with recent studies exploring topics like telework, job satisfaction, diversity, and turnover intention.
In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Wesemann has significant applied experience in public service as a governmental consultant, policy analyst, and nonprofit leader. As Director of the MPA Internship Program, he is dedicated to fostering student success by providing high-impact, hands-on learning experiences that build professional skills, expand networks, and prepare students for careers in public and nonprofit service.
