Tim Kalinowski
Tim Kalinowski is an Instructor and Coordinator (Pre-Law Minor) in the Political Science Department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville as well as a practicing attorney. His Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston in 1992 followed a Computer Science degree from Texas A&M University in 1989. While the first course he taught at SIUE was Software Engineering in the Computer Science Department, Tim primarily teaches classes in legal studies - American Government; Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing; The Judicial Process; Law & Society; and Constitutional Law I & II - but also has taught African American Politics and Science & Politics.
Tim was involved in the creation of the Pre-Law Minor at SIUE. He is the advisor for the Political Science Association, and he loves discussing new and controversial subjects (it isn't arguing until people start calling him names). Tim does applied research helping other attorneys with their legal cases plus some pro bono work as time permits. When his wife accepted a position in the Chemistry Department, Tim came to Edwardsville because moving a law practice is easier than moving a university. He finds conversations with students are much more enjoyable than fussing at computers that won't do exactly what they are told to do -- even if the pay isn't close to comparable.
