People and communities are at the center of Social Work education and the profession! This is why the Department of Social Work at SIUE embraces a mission to promote the well-being of people and society and advance social and economic justice. This makes Social Work a fulfilling major for those who want to ensure that even society’s most vulnerable have basic resources that validate their inherent human dignity.
Students can acquire a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) here at SIUE, and both the BSW and MSW programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) on Accreditation.
Our Department supports its students. We have an excellent alumni network with many who have gone on to distinguished careers in mental health, counseling, social justice advocacy, and a variety of fields that advance society by lifting those most marginalized. We have altruistic alumni and donors who pay it forward by funding scholarships for our students.
