Dr. Jayme Swanke (she/her/hers) earned her Bachelors of Social Work (2005), Masters of Social Work (2006), and Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Administration and Services (2009) from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She brings 15 years of clinical experience in mental health and substance use disorder treatment to her role as a faculty member at SIUE's Department of Social Work, where she has been serving since 2012. Since 2015, she has also held the position of Program Director.
Throughout her tenure at SIUE, Dr. Swanke has taught a wide range of courses across both the BSW and MSW programs, covering topics such as micro and macro practice, human behavior in the social environment, research methods, program evaluation, and various electives. She is well-versed in both qualitative and quantitative research, with experience in designing and executing large-scale program evaluations. Her scholarly contributions include over 20 peer-reviewed publications as an author or co-author.
In addition to her academic duties, Dr. Swanke has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) on several significant grants. These include the SIUE Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program grant, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the IL CRSS Success Program (814) grant funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Mental Health, which supports the SIUE Recovery Support Professional Training Program—a program she also directs.
