Quick Tips for Students

Follow the Steps to Financial Success with the Bursar Roadmap checklist:

1. Input your contact information in CougarNet to receive important information from the school.
2. Set up Direct Deposit for refund of excess aid and future credits.
3. Input your SSN into CougarNet so your 1098T can be processed with the correct information.
4. Use the Tuition and Fees estimator to predict your semester educational expenses! Follow this tutorial.
5. Set up Authorizations for a Third-Party to view and pay your student account to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
   1. Authorized Payer through QuikPay(Nelnet)– This grants your authorized user access to make payments and receive email notices about upcoming payment due dates.
   2. Authorize a Proxy (Third-party) User (CougarNet) – This grants your authorized user access to view your student account on Cougarnet, as well as contact campus departments on your behalf regarding your account. Access varies based on what the student has selected. Instructions on how to set-up proxy access can be found at Student Records.
6. Regularly check your university email, CougarNet, as well as the SIUE app with notifications on for any updates!
7. Set Reminders for Payment due dates, add/drop dates, and textbook return.
