About Dr. Klopfenstein
Dr. Klopfenstein joined the faculty of the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology program at SIUE in 2012. She teaches undergraduate and graduate course work in phonetics, speech science, voice and motor speech disorders, and dysphagia. Dr. Klopfenstein is Secretary/Treasurer for the International Clinical Linguistics & Phonetics Association and Co-Chair of SIUE’s Safe Zone. She is a frequent presenter at professional meetings at the national and international levels and at invited talks with local community organizations.
Research Profile
Dr. Klopfenstein’s current research looks at unmet needs and issues with accessibility of services in populations such as the transgender and gender non-conforming community and those with head and neck cancer. Her previous work includes examination of acoustic and perceptual correlates of speech naturalness, speech rate, sonority, and phonetic transcription. Dr. Klopfenstein has particular research experience with acoustic analysis and SPSS in her research.
