About Dr. Ross-Stewart
Dr. Ross-Stewart is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Health . Dr. Ross-Stewart obtained her PhD in Psychology from the University of North Dakota, her M.S in Kinesiology from the University of North Dakota, and her B.A. in Psychology from Mount Allison University.
Dr. Ross-Stewart’s research is grounded in Albert Bandura’s Self Efficacy Concept and its role in behavior change. Of particular interest to Dr. Ross-Stewart is how imagery impacts efficacy and sport performance. Dr. Ross-Stewart and her colleagues are the creators of Imagery Assisted Virtual Reality Protocols for athletes. Dr. Ross-Stewart’s research has been published in numerous journals including, The Journal of Sports Science, The Sports Journal, The Journal of Physical Fitness, Medicine and Treatment in Sports, The Sport Psychologist, Journal of Imagery Research in Sport and Physical Activity, International Journal of Coaching Science, and the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology.
Dr. Ross-Stewart is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant(R) and an Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) registered mentor. She is also a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association. Dr. Ross-Stewart was the 2024 recipient of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology Teaching Excellence Award and a recipient of the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference’s Outstanding Faculty Commitment to Student Success Award.
Ross-Stewart teaches graduate level courses in Sport Psychology, Professional Standards and Ethics in Sport Psychology, Diversity and Culture in Sport, Psychology of Coaching and the final seminar for all Exercise and Sport Psychology Graduate Students.
