About Dr. Vanderbunt
Dr. Vanderbunt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Health. She obtained her Ed.D. in Health Professions Education from A.T. Still University (ATSU), her M.S. in Sports Health Care from ATSU, and her B.S. in Kinesiology, with an Athletic Training emphasis, from the University of Illinois.
Dr. Vanderbunt is a Certified Athletic Trainer and her diverse professional experience, including athletic training, clinical practice, and personal training, shapes her approach to teaching. Her research interests include the role of physical activity in student achievement and exploring the factors influencing how students choose their academic majors, with a focus on improving student satisfaction, recruitment, and retention. Her teaching philosophy centers on preparing students to apply course content in a variety of real-world settings and promoting evidence-based practice.
Dr. Vanderbunt teaches a variety of Exercise Science courses, including Functional Anatomy, Organization and Management of Exercise Related Facilities, and Musculoskeletal Injuries.
