Welcome back, students!
Welcome to the 2024-25 academic year! I want to extend a warm welcome and share how happy the SIUE School of Engineering is to see you again.
Whether you are returning to build on previous knowledge or joining us for the first time, each of you brings your own perspective and talents that will enrich our collective experience.
Our students, faculty, and alumni continue to shine through numerous accolades:
- The SIUE Solar Car Team hosted one of the stops for the 2024 American Solar Challenge. The event was a great success, and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome the teams again in the future.
- Ed Grady, a 1972 civil engineering alumnus, signed a planned giving donation with an estimated value of $3M. This is the largest gift the School has received in its history.
- SIUE has entered into a dual degree program agreement with Hochschule Mainz – University of Applied Sciences of Germany where both SIUE and Hochschule Mainz civil engineering students can complete their senior year at the partner university and obtain two undergraduate Bachelor degrees, one from each university.
- We have signed a pathway agreement with DuPage College and are working on similar agreements with Lake County College, and Harper College.
- We project that our enrollment will be up on both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with significant increases in our pre-engineering freshmen cohort.
I encourage you to watch the School of Engineering’s newsfeed for all the great accomplishments yet to come. You can click here and bookmark the page.
I hope you approach this semester with enthusiasm and a readiness to engage with your course materials and with one another. Together we can create an environment of collaboration that will make this an unforgettable semester.
Looking forward to a fantastic start and a productive semester ahead!
