Establishing Endowments
An endowment fund is a gift that lasts in perpetuity and provides continual support to the University in area(s) that reflect the donor’s interests. The minimum gift to establish an endowment is $25,000. Donors may fully fund an endowment with a one-time lump-sum gift over a five-year period, or through a bequest or other deferred gift. In addition to cash, endowed funds can be established through any gift vehicle recognized by the SIUE Foundation, including gifts.
Currently, the SIUE Foundation has been distributing to spendable endowment funds 4.25% of the average market valuation of the particular endowment’s valuation over the prior 12 months up to the fund’s earning reserve at year end. This spendable distribution is utilized according to the donor’s restrictions for the fund benefitting SIUE concerning programs, departments and scholarships. The SIUE Foundation endowment administrative fee is assessed at 0.35% of the average endowment market valuation over the prior 12 months at year end, supporting the advancement operations of SIUE.
