Must be admitted to a graduate program, preferably in a quantitative field.
Maintain a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Must have taken the equivalent of the three-semester Calculus courses and a course in Linear Algebra. For some positions, experience in the statistical software R or the mathematical programming language MATLAB will be required.
Must possess strong quantitative, verbal, and written communication skills.
Assignment of Graduate Teaching Assistants will be determined by the department’s Graduate Program Committee. Tasks may include leading recitation sections in undergraduate Mathematics courses such as Quantitative Reasoning and various levels of Calculus (MATH 145, MATH 152, MATH 250); leading computer lab sections in undergraduate Statistics courses (STAT 244, STAT 380) or an introductory programming course (MATH 165); working with students in the department’s Tutor Lab; and providing support in undergraduate courses as a grader.
