Applicants either admitted to or enrolled in the SIUE Chemistry graduate program are encouraged to apply. Preference is given to those applicants in the Chemistry M.S. program and that have completed significant chemistry coursework and/or experience working in a chemistry laboratory. Although Chemistry majors are preferred, other majors may be considered based on the needs of the Department and the applicant pool. Appointment to an assistantship is provided on a competitive basis. Generally, a minimum GPA of 3.3 is required, although exceptions may be considered. Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 6, but no more than 12 credit hours per academic term for fall and spring.
This graduate assistantship position supports Chemistry faculty and laboratory courses. Teaching assistant responsibilities may include laboratory set-up, lab instruction, monitoring student lab safety, holding office hours, and grading.
