Apply to Live On Campus

Log into MyHousing using your SIUE email and password to complete the following:

  • Submit an exemption from the residency requirement.
  • View your housing assignment once available.
  • Submit forms: Cancellation Request, Break Housing Request, Early Arrival Request, Late Departure Request, and more!
  • Sign up for a Move-In Timeslot
  • Apply for student employment positions within University Housing

Application Preferred Deadlines

  • Fall-Spring: May 1
  • Spring Only: December 1
  • Summer: April 1

Applications will be processed and assignments will be made based on the date received, order, and availability. If you need to make a change to your application after you have submitted, please email the Central Housing Office at housing@siue.edu.

Roommates

Once you’ve submitted your housing application, you can search for other students who have applied and create roommate groups. You can also:

  • Add a specific student as a roommate request using their screen name
  • Filter students by personal inventory questions
  • View system-generated roommate recommendations

Check back often, as only students who have applied are visible. We recommend starting your roommate search in April.

Roommate groups can be for two-person rooms or suites/apartments (up to four in first-year areas, six in Evergreen Hall). Pages lock on May 15 when assignments begin to be finalized.

Room Assignment Process

How Assignments Are Made
Room assignments are made based on when you apply, your room type or Living Learning Community (LLC) preferences, and any mutual roommate requests. Returning residents who complete the Returning Resident application are placed first. All other students are assigned in order of their application date.

Preferences
If preferred spaces aren’t available, students receive a shared bedroom. All space, including that in high demand (Evergreen Hall, deluxe apartments/suites, Cougar Village privates), is assigned first-come, first-served.

Accommodations
Students with documented medical, physical, or psychological needs should register with the ACCESS Office for appropriate housing accommodations.

Non-Discrimination
Assignments are made without regard to race, sexual orientation, or national origin.

Receiving Assignments
Students receive assignments via their SIUE and personal email accounts starting in July. Assignments are viewable in MyHousing. Changes to assignments are not allowed until the space change process opens in the third week of the semester. Space changes are reviewed by University Housing staff and are subject to availability.

Canceling a Housing Application

Follow these steps to cancel your application:

  • Log into MyHousing
  • Click on Housing Forms
  • Submit the University Housing Cancellation Form

Fall Semester
Cancel before May 1

  • $75 application deposit credited to student account

Cancel before August 1

  • Forfeit $75 application deposit and incur a $200 cancellation fee 

After August 1

  • Cancellations are only allowed for approved reasons: graduation, withdrawal, academic suspension, medical accommodation, death in immediate family, marriage, active military duty, or study abroad/co-op/internship.

Spring Semester
Cancel before December 1

  • $75 application deposit credited to student account

Cancel before January 1

  • Forfeit $75 application deposit and incur a $200 cancellation fee 

After January 1

  • Cancellations are only allowed for approved reasons: graduation, withdrawal, academic suspension, medical accommodation, death in immediate family, marriage, active military duty, or study abroad/co-op/internship.
