Residence Housing Association
The Residence Housing Association (RHA) is the voice and representation of residential students at SIUE. Representing 3,000 students from all five residential areas, RHA remains dedicated to improving on-campus living and objectively providing a voice for the concerns of our residents.
RHA aims to improve the student living environment through both creative programming and policy influence. RHA influences policy changes through legislation and advocacy and develops student leadership through attendance and involvement at various conferences and more. RHA executes both traditional and new events on campus, such as Homecoming Dance and Mud Volleyball.
What we do: Host events for residents, uphold traditional Housing events, policy change, send delegations to regional and national conferences, hold forums, training and development events.
Contact Josie for more information on how to join, jpalitz@siue.edu.
National Residence Hall Honorary
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is a campus chapter that recognizes the top 1% of student leaders that reside on campus. SIUE’s Red Storm chapter began in the spring of 2006 and has 35 members! NRHH is intended to give local, regional, and national recognition to students making exceptional contributions to the residential areas on campus. Each NRHH member is recognized for their contributions to the four NRHH pillars: Leadership, Scholarship, Recognition, and Service.
Once selected for the National Residence Hall Honorary, you are a member for life. While living on campus and considered an Active Member, you can join the following committees to give back to your organization, campus, and community: Marketing, Service, Social, and Of The Months (recognition).
The NRHH Red Storm chapter is committed to giving back to the community and is involved in several ongoing service projects. NRHH members actively volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club of Bethalto and the Granite City APA (Association for the Protection of Animals). As an NRHH member, you can be involved in a number of service projects both at SIUE and in the surrounding community. Contact for more information, siuenrhh@gmail.com
Other Involvement Opportunities
Roompact - Roompact is an online platform that will help you be successful while living in University Housing by connecting you to your community, events, and campus resources. Use Roompact to engage with other members of your wing, complete and revise your Roommate Agreement, check out what Housing events are planned, and/or request a mediation. Don’t forget to check out the campus resources under the Resource Section on Roompact!
Study Tables - Resident Assistants host study tables twice a week for two hours. These occur in each community and will be open for residents to study. A RA will monitor the room to ensure it remains academically focused and to help residents where they can by answering questions or directing residents to campus resources. There will be monthly incentives for residents to participate.
Activity Spaces- Residents can reserve the activity wing to take online classes together, study in larger groups, or just hang out. It’s a safe, flexible space for learning and community.
RA Open Door Hours - Every Resident Assistant holds weekly open-door hours. This is a time when the Resident Assistant is available for residents to drop in to ask questions, share concerns, or just hang out for a bit.
Social Activities - Each month, Resident Assistants will host socials. These programs are fun activities (bonfires, watch parties, game nights, volleyball, etc.) designed to get residents engaged with each other.
Programming - Throughout the semester, Housing staff will host programs to engage students around our Learning Outcomes. These activities will be a mix of in-person, grab-and-go, and look to help each resident reflect, learn, and grow as they move throughout the year.
Employment – University Housing employees, students, and graduate students. Becoming a Resident Assistant or Desk Manager is a great way for students to get involved with University Housing while also holding an on-campus job. View our job openings on our Employment page.
Mediation – Conflicts with roommates, neighbors, or friends can happen. RAs and professional staff are available to guide residents through solutions and prevent issues from escalating. Mediation can be requested through an RA or by submitting a Roompact form.
