SERVICE OPTIONS
Students may select either the Basic Service plan or the Personal Telephone Line (PTL) plan for their incoming and intracampus calls. The Student Telephone Account Number (STAN) is available for calls off campus, both local and long distance. Highlights of the features of these service options are outlined below, while the Telecommunications Support Student Policy brochure provides detailed information regarding each.

A private telephone number for a single student: no need to share a telephone line with roommates. Caller ID capable line (resident must purchase appropriate equipment). Private Voice Mail included with service. There is no need to purchase an answering machine. Your private voice mail is accessible by dialing into the system from on or off campus. Call Forwarding to Private Voice Mail, included with service [in addition to the other custom calling features available with Basic service]. Exclusive use of assigned telephone number throughout tenure as a University Housing resident. |

Rates are cheaper than with the major long distance carriers (AT&T, Sprint, MCI, etc.). You pay your telephone bill on campus. You can view your toll calls to date at any time via the Internet. Your STAN can be used from any SIUE telephone, including the tan courtesy phones located in the hallways and lobbies of most buildings. There are no access charges. Calls can be dialed directly to save money! |
