Looking for ways to engage students and enhance their learning? Instructional Design & Learning Technologies has a few resources to add to your toolbox.
Poll Everywhere
Using Poll Everywhere in your classroom can allow you to quickly take attendance, increase engagement, activate prior knowledge, and check for understanding with your students. Poll Everywhere has a Blackboard integration that allows you to set up your students in just a few clicks and even sync polls to the Grade Center. The variety of question types lets you tailor the information you want to gather or the activities you want to enhance in the classroom. Poll Everywhere has some exciting new updates including the option to create polls using AI. The ITS Knowledgebase has several resources to get you started.
YuJa Quizzes
YuJa is more than just a tool to record and stream your lecture videos. Adding Quizzes to your video can increase engagement and provide students a chance to process what they have watched. Quizzes can be set up with questions added to the video or account for students simply watching the video. Once a Quiz is added to a video, you decide if you want to make it count for a grade or just use the analytics. YuJa Quizzes can be added to the Blackboard Grade Center using the YuJa Quizzes & Analytics tool.
Respondus Monitor
Does your course use online assessments? Respondus Monitor may be a way to increase your exam security while ensuring students are following your exam guidelines. Respondus Monitor is easy to set up for any exams in Blackboard. Additionally, Pearson and Cengage have Respondus Monitor integrations that use the SIUE site license for Respondus. IDLT suggests a few recommendations for best practice when using Respondus Monitor for your courses.
Lightboard Studio
Want to turbo-charge your video lectures? The Lightboard Studio located in the basement of Lovejoy Library might be the tool for you. If annotation is part of your lecture delivery, using the Lightboard Studio can replicate the in-person approach to teaching. You can get started by sending an email to IDLT to book a time.
