Blackboard Learn Ultra – A New Way to Teach

SIUE will be transitioning from Blackboard Learn Original to Blackboard Learn Ultra by Fall 2026, in response to Anthology’s decision to phase out support for the original interface. This change is not optional for institutions, and we are working to ensure the transition is smooth and well-supported for faculty and students. Learn Ultra offers a cleaner, more intuitive design, mobile-friendly access, and powerful learning analytics to support student success.
We know change brings questions, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

In addition, some of your colleagues have agreed to serve as early adopters during the Spring 2026 semester. They will gain hands-on experience with Ultra ahead of the full rollout, and they’ll be valuable departmental resources as the transition progresses. You’ll be able to ask them about their experiences, tips, and best practices as they work directly in Ultra.
Interested in exploring Ultra early?
If you’d like to begin familiarizing yourself with Blackboard Learn Ultra before the full transition, faculty can now request a developmental shell. This sandbox-style space will let you experiment with the Ultra course view, explore new workflows, and start thinking about how your course materials will translate to the new experience.
