Lilia Ban, Assistant Scientific Analyst
What are your job duties at NCERC?
I primarily perform testing in the analytical and fermentation labs, as well as manage and mentor our student workers, graduate students, and fellows.
What is something you enjoy about your job at NCERC?
I enjoy being able to work with a wide variety of students and training them, so they have the necessary skills to enter the workforce after college.
What does teamwork look like at your job at NCERC ?
Good communication between all sectors of the building (lab, plant, and business) when there is an active project in the house, because they all require all areas to be in sync with each other.
What is an interesting part of your job that external people may not realize that you do?
My job combines aspects of all different branches of the sciences, from microbiology to organic chemistry!
Without disclosing client information, what has been your favorite project to work on and why?
The Shockwave project. It was the first big scale project that I helped to lead and it was very gratifying to see it all come together.
What do you love most about your career field?
Discovering something new!
