Costello appointed to lead Illinois Department of Agriculture

EDWARDSVILLE – Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker appointed Jerry Costello II as head of the Illinois Department of Agriculture on Friday, pending Senate approval.
The National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center (NCERC) would like to extend its congratulations to Costello, and extend its gratitude to the Governor for his appointment.
“NCERC congratulates Jerry Costello II, on his appointment as the Illinois Director of Agriculture. In addition, NCERC extends thanks to Governor Pritzker for appointing Costello as the next Director of Agriculture,” said NCERC Executive Director John Caupert.
“As a State Representative, representing the 116th Legislative District, Costello understood the critical role agriculture plays in the Illinois economy. During his years as State Representative, Costello was a tireless leader on agriculture issues, as a committed leader on the Agriculture Committee. NCERC looks forward to working with the Illinois Director of Agriculture, Jerry Costello II,” said Caupert.
Costello has served as the Law Enforcement Director with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources since May 2019. He served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019, and served as chairman of the House Agriculture and Conservation committee during his term, in addition to serving on the Pritzker-Stratton Agriculture Transition Committee.
