A Global Celebration: Scenes From International Education Week at SIUE
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s International Education Week began on Nov. 17 with an opening flag ceremony, representing 25 countries, launching a celebratory sequence of cultural appreciation and fellowship. The international student experience was on full display through multiple performances, henna art, games, a study abroad showcase and Thanksgiving social.
“International Education Week (IEW) is a week-long celebration of all things international education at SIUE. We look to celebrate the international students who choose to study at SIUE and the SIUE students that become global citizens by studying abroad. It takes teamwork across multiple departments, and it’s honestly my favorite event to plan. I love seeing the cultural exchanges and the friendships that form or grow during this week. Every year, our IEW committee looks for ways to make it even better, and I can’t wait to see what we come up with next!” said International Student Program Advisor Sara Duft.
