SIUE in the News: Intelligencer Picks Up GI Bill Celebrations
The Edwardsville Intelligencer reported on Military and Veteran Services’ 80th Anniversary of the GI Bill Celebrations at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In a Tuesday, Sept. 10 article, reporter Scott Marion covered the reception in the Legacy Room of the Morris University Center, which took place on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Editor Jason Koch also featured Marion’s story on the delivery of the e-edition of the publication.
Marion’s article captured the spirit of the event, and included details from Kevin Wathen, EdD, director of Military and Veteran Services, who delivered a presentation on the Bill’s history. Marion highlighted the personal achievements of guest speaker Joey Jones and acknowledged the organization of the event from Telisha Reinhardt, assistant director of Military and Veteran Services.
The celebration invited veterans and civilians to learn more about the development of the historic bill.
“For Wathen and Reinhardt, the Sept. 4 event was also a way to spread the word about the MAVRC to veterans who may be new to the SIUE campus,” wrote Marion.
