SIUE’s Commitment as Designated Teach-out Institution for Fontbonne Students Leads Regional News Coverage
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville student Darren Luchetti, a recent Fontbonne transfer student studying applied mathematics, and the University’s transfer program were recently featured on Fox 2 News St. Louis. KMOV First Alert 4 also provided coverage of the program. The news broadcasts shared SIUE’s commitment as a designated teach-out institution for Fontbonne students who earlier this year learned of their college closing date summer 2025.
As Fox 2 reporter Jeff Bernthal noted, SIUE has waived the application fee for Fontbonne transfer students. Students in good academic standing at Fontbonne University who enroll for spring, summer or fall 2025 will receive a 50% discount on SIUE tuition for up to six semesters.
“They don’t have to uproot their whole lives to change their school,” said Patrick Sears, registrar at SIUE and alumnus (MPA, ‘15), who was also interviewed. “They can still be in the St. Louis area, the community, and still complete their academic goals here.”
