SIUE Cougars on the Move, Florida: Alumni Weekend Includes Cardinals Spring Training
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville alumni and friends are meeting in Florida for an exciting weekend at the ballpark this March. The SIUE Alumni Association is hosting a two-day event that will bring Cougars together to celebrate its community and to create memories.
The event kicks off Saturday, March 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Homewood Suites in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Alumni will enjoy a private gathering featuring appetizers, drinks and the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet fellow Cougars. The weekend wraps up on March 23rd with a St. Louis Cardinals game at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The team will be taking on the Washington Nationals. Chancellor James T. Minor, PhD, and SIU System President Dan Mahony, PhD, will be joining SIUE cohort of Cardinal fans set to pack the stands and show off Cougar pride.
“This event has become such a great tradition over the years, bringing SIUE alumni who are also Cardinals fans together for a weekend of fun and connection," said Cathy Taylor, Associate Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of Alumni & Donor Relations. "We’re excited to see everyone in Florida to catch up, share memories, and cheer on the Cardinals together."
Event attendees will enjoy VIP access to the exclusive SIUE Alumni area in the Cassidy Cool Zone on the first base side of the stadium. Beginning at noon there will be an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring classic ballpark favorites.
The game itself starts at 1:05 p.m. EST.
For those traveling to the event, the Homewood Suites by Hilton, located just five minutes from the stadium, is the preferred hotel for the weekend. The SIUE Alumni Association has secured a limited number of discounted rooms for guests, making it convenient to stay close to all the action.
