Three SIUE Golfers, Three Wrestlers Named Academic All-District
Six SIUE student-athletes were named to the Academic All-District® At-Large team Tuesday by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes student-athletes for their performance in competition and in the classroom.
SIUE golfers Preston Bily, Alex Eickhoff and Brady Kaufmann along with wrestlers Bradley Gillum, Danny Martinez and Hayden Whidden were honored.
To be considered, student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.50 grade point average. Golfers and wrestlers both must have competed in 70 percent of the team's total events which were team scoring events.
Bily has a 3.60 grade point average in business finance. The sophomore competed in nine of SIUE's 10 tournaments and finished with a scoring average of 75.96. His best finish was seventh at Missouri State's Twin Oaks Intercollegiate.
Eickhoff holds a 3.57 GPA in exercise science. The senior was a first team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection after finishing fifth in the league with a 72.0 scoring average. He earned four top-10 finishes during the season.
Kaufmann has a 3.64 GPA in business finance. The junior also was a first team All-OVC pick after finishing second in the league in scoring average at 71.0. Kaufmann won UT Martin's Grover Page Classic, had two runner-up finishes and five total top-10 performances.
Gillum holds a 3.634 GPA in geography. The redshirt sophomore won six matches during the season and was SIUE's 165-pound representative at the Mid-America Conference Championships.
Martinez has a 3.53 GPA in business administration. The sophomore placed third at the 2025 Mid-America Conference Championships and led the team in falls with six during the season.
Whidden holds a 3.50 GPA in nursing. The sophomore was SIUE's 149-pound representative at the Mid-American Conference Championships and finished with 12 victories during the season.
The full Academic All-America list will be released in July.
