Illinois Launches “One Click College Admit” Program and SIUE is Proud to Participate

A new era in higher education admissions has arrived in Illinois with the launch of the One Click College Admit program, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is proud to be among the first universities to participate.
Governor JB Pritzker and state education leaders announced the initiative on August 19, offering Illinois students a simpler, barrier-free path to higher education. For the first time, high school seniors and community college transfer students can receive automatic admission to public universities, including SIUE, based solely on GPA. No application fees. No essays. No letters of recommendation. Just opportunity.
According to the program guidelines, high school seniors in the Class of 2026 will be able to create a Common App account, enter basic information and GPA, and receive automatic admission offers. Juniors in the Class of 2027 can opt in now to be considered for direct admission next fall. Beginning in January 2026, eligible community college students with 30 credit hours will also have the option to participate in seamless transfer admission.
The program is designed to remove barriers, open doors, and expand access to higher education. By joining eight other Illinois public universities, SIUE is reaffirming its commitment to equity, access, and student success.
Samantha Ray, SIUE’s Director of Undergraduate Admissions, explained how powerful this opportunity can be for students:
“There are students who sometimes question whether college is really an option for them. The One Click Admit program helps shift that mindset by opening clear pathways to higher education. At SIUE, we're proud to be part of an effort that keeps more Illinois students close to home and shows them that their goals are within reach.”
As with any new statewide initiative, the One Click College Admit program will continue to grow and evolve. SIUE is committed to working alongside students, families, and educators to ensure the program’s success and to help pave the pathway to higher education.
Ray emphasized the importance of support during this transition and noted, “We understand that transitions like this take time and partnership. At SIUE, our priority is to provide clarity, support, and confidence—so students and their families know they are making the right choice for their future.”
This commitment to access and partnership affirms SIUE’s role in shaping brighter futures for Illinois students—reminding us that at SIUE, opportunity isn’t just within reach, it’s just one click away.
