SIUE Alumnus Bill Cross Joins Facilities Management Team as Director
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has hired Bill Cross, MBA, as the new Facilities Management Director, effective January 20. Cross is an alumnus (‘09) who earned his bachelor’s degree in computer management information systems. He comes to the role with extensive experience as a leader in executive-level facilities operations and strategic asset management.
“I am excited about joining the Facilities department at SIUE. Facilities operations are the foundation of the university experience,” said Cross. “My goal is to lead our team in providing innovative, efficient, and staff/student-centered management that not only supports SIUE’s academic mission but also strengthens our commitment to regional growth and environmental stewardship.”
A veteran in facilities management, Cross has worked in facilities operations at BJC, Boeing and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Cross was the senior facilities operations manager and led a large-scale facilities team of four managers, eight supervisors, and more than 180 employees during the integration of two major hospital systems into the broader BJC enterprise services environment.
During his 33-year career as both a director and a senior facilities manager at Boeing in St. Louis, Mo., Cross was accountable for a five-year budget (~$200M/yr) planning process and managed more than $30M in capital improvements annually through construction and project management.
Cross comes to SIUE having been recognized for effective communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills in interactions with senior and executive leadership.
