“Dr. Ashish K. John received his medical degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, a Harvard Medical International institution, in Madras, India. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Ill. and served as chief resident in his final year. Dr. John is board eligible in pediatrics with a special interest in newborn care. He resides in Springfield with his wife, Dr. Teena John, and their children.”

“To be honest, I was a little apprehensive to be paired with a physician for a clinical rotation. Especially one for pediatrics, an area that makes me nervous anyway. However, Dr. John has made my experience with pediatrics wonderful and extremely less nerve-wracking and terrifying than I had anticipated. He is the ideal role model for evidence-based practice and the definition of providing education to patients and their parents. He pushes his patients, their parents, his nurses, and those he precepts to be their best while fostering a safe, fun, and healthy environment to work and learn in. Any time I had a question, he would help me work through it. Whether it was the process to the diagnosis, to treatment, or to certain education points. Exposure to Dr. John for pediatric clinical has allowed me to go from completely terrified at the idea of assessing a newborn baby to excited and comfortable, a point I do not believe I would have reached without him as my preceptor.”
