“I really enjoyed my clinical experience with Tammy Vandermolen! She has extensive knowledge of patient care and establishes great rapport with her patients. She goes above and beyond for her patients by responding to their patient portal messages quickly and ensuring the patients get quick appointments when needing consultations. She encouraged me to independently interview and assess patients, as well as develop a plan of care for the patients. She always asked me which treatment options I would choose for the patients and would then have me explain why I made those choices. If I was not sure what the patient needed or chose something different than what she would do, she always explained her thinking process based on personal patient experiences and current research. Tammy is an active leader in her practice and in the St. Louis Nurses in Advanced Practice organization. She encourages students to get involved in their local advanced practice nursing organizations in order to expand knowledge and promote community involvement. She stays up to date on current medical management guidelines and shares them with her students and patients. She is also a certified diabetes educator and helped me to better understand the management of diabetic patients, which will be helpful in my future practice. Tammy is a great role model for Nurse Practitioners. I hope that one day I am as excellent of a Nurse Practitioner as she is!”

“Tammy goes above and beyond as a preceptor to demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and trust with her patients and students. She coaches her students to be independent thinkers and develop systemic methods that aide in assessment findings, documentation, and creating a treatment plan that is most appropriate for the patient. Tammy provides constructive criticism that encourages the student to grow clinically as a professional. Each patient is treated equally and with treatment guidelines that correlate with up-to-date evidence-based practice.”
