Dr. Beth Cady is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and clinical pharmacy specialist in Infectious Diseases at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She also holds an adjunct appointment within the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL. She participates in daily multi-disciplinary rounds BS in Science Education in 2006 from the University of Iowa. After teaching high school Chemistry for three years, Dr. Cady pursued her PharmD at Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2014 with her sights set on pursing a career in pharmacy academia. Following graduation, she completed her residency training (PGY1 and PGY2 in Infectious Diseases) at the University of Kentucky HealthCare. She has been with SIUE SOP since 2017 and has loved every minute being on faculty. She teaches ID content in the 2nd year therapeutics course as well as an infectious diseases elective in the third professional year. She annually precepts APPE students, PGY1 pharmacy residents, and a PGY2 ID resident at St. John’s Hospital. Her areas of interest include gram negative resistance, duration of antibiotic therapy, rapid diagnostics in ID, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
