Brief Intro/bio
I am a professor in the department of pharmacy practice and director of well-being and resilience at SIUE School of Pharmacy. I graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and completed a specialty residency in psychiatric pharmacy at the University of Southern California. I joined SIUE in 2007, with excited energy and passion to teach pharmacy students about the core concepts of psychiatric medicine, psychopharmacology, and patient-centered communication. I recently implemented a psychiatry specialization within the school of pharmacy, offering students an opportunity to focus their coursework within this area of pharmacy practice. I have worked as a psychiatric pharmacist in St. Louis for the past 18 years, seeing patients in collaboration with psychiatry, as part of an integrated behavioral health team. My clinical passion areas include expanding mental health care access within low-income communities, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and Motivational Interviewing. I am a champion for well-being promotion within pharmacy education and our healthcare system.
