Brief Intro/bio
Dr. Jared Sheley is a Clinical Associate Professor with the Department of Pharmacy Practice and has been a faculty member of SIUE SOP since 2014. He holds a joint appointment as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois, where he participates in daily multi-disciplinary teaching rounds with the Saint Louis University Family Medicine Inpatient Service. He regularly precepts APPE students and pharmacy residents who join him on this clinical practice. He works closely with the resident physicians and attending physicians to provide optimal treatment of patients admitted to the hospital. In addition to contributions to direct patient care, Dr. Sheley also regularly provides formal and informal education to these physicians.
At SIUE SOP, Dr. Sheley teaches and coordinates an Integrated Pharmacotherapy course and an Acute Care Elective course as well as teaches in a variety of required didactic courses, pharmacy skills labs, and several focused clinical elective courses. He also co-coordinates the SIUE SOP Acute Care Specialization and the Resident Teaching Certificate program that many pharmacy residency and fellowship programs in the region participate in each year.
Education/Training/Background
Dr. Sheley received his Doctor of Pharmacy (2012) from SIUE School of Pharmacy and completed a Pharmacy Practice residency (2013) and an Internal Medicine Specialty residency (2014) at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo. He received his ACPE teaching certificate through St. Louis College of Pharmacy (2013) and is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.

Dr. Sheley is involved in the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) Section of Pharmacy Educators, currently serving a leadership role on the Section Advisory Group on the Development of Student Education and Learning Experiences. He has previously held leadership roles in the Illinois Council of Health System Pharmacists (ICHP) and Metro-East Society of Health System Pharmacists (MESHP).
