Catalog Descriptions of Generic Courses - 1N3
Generic courses are those courses whose titles identify a general topical area, e.g., Special Topics in Speech Communication, or Readings in Construction, and which are variable in course content within that topical area. Regarding such courses,
- Catalog course descriptions of generic courses are to be written in a standard form clearly indicating that the course is variable in content, and hence can be taken more than once without repeating material;
- A list of generic courses is to be maintained by the Curriculum Council subject to a periodic review by the Undergraduate Courses Committee;
- Courses on the generic course list will be recognized as generic courses and provision made for transcripts to show the content of the generic course or courses a student has taken.
