Identification Card Policy - 2C3
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Photo Identification Card is the approved identification for students, faculty, and staff and should be carried at all times while on the University premises. A validated card will be required to obtain services from University offices such as the Bursar, Morris University Center, Health Service, Lovejoy Library and others, and to gain access to University activities and facilities such as intercollegiate athletic events, campus programs, intramural and recreation activities, the Student Fitness Center, and University Housing. In addition, University Police personnel and University Housing staff are authorized to request the photo I-D card in conjunction with the conduct of their duties when circumstances warrant identification. The photo I-D is nontransferable and void if altered. Use by any person of an altered card or use of a card with intent to defraud may constitute a violation of the Illinois Criminal Code. Each photo identification card is the property of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
The card must be presented by students to obtain textbooks from Textbook Rental. Under certain circumstances, additional identification (i.e., drivers license, receipts, etc.) may be required. Misuse, defacement or alteration constitutes an infraction of the Student Conduct and Student Grievances: Rights and Responsibilities Policy and provides grounds for separation from the University by suspension, dismissal, or expulsion.
The I-D can be used in accessing funds through Cougarbucks, that can be used for laundry, vending, copy machines, parking, printing and bookstore, or any other services identified on campus and off-campus vendors. The minimum amount needed to open a debit account is $5.00.
Cougarbucks balances in excess of $5.00 will be refunded as follows:
- if withdrawing from SIUE, through the Service Center
- upon request by faculty or staff through the Service Center
- refunded automatically upon graduation unless student is enrolled in the next semester
- refunded automatically after 6 months of inactivity
Cougarbucks refunds are posted to the student, faculty or staff's Cougarnet account and will first be applied to any outstanding debts owed to the University. Remaining amounts will be sent by the Bursar's Office through direct deposit or check.
Proper use of the card is a University policy and practice which University faculty and staff employees are expected to honor.
I-D cards are obtained from the Campus Service Center.
