Scheduling of Athletic Events - 3F3
- The scheduling of athletic events shall be minimally disruptive of academic pursuits. The responsibility for effecting this rests with Head Coaches, Sport Administrators, and the Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics.
- The schedule of events shall comply with all University and athletic affiliate regulations.
- Head Coaches and Sport Administrators will discuss scheduling priorities annually. Regular season schedules will be based on these priorities.
- Non-conference away competition should not be scheduled during final exam periods. Consideration will be given for scheduling a non-conference home competition during final exam periods. The Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics or their designee will review requests for non-conference home competitions during final exam periods with the Faculty Athletic Representative before approval to schedule the competition is given. Conference regular season and championship competition, and NCAA Championship competition during final exam periods will be allowed.
- Head Coaches will work with their team's assigned Athletics Academic Advisor to determine release times from class for home and away competition based on the approved schedule. Release times should be based on a student-athlete missing a maximum of 15% of the scheduled contact hours of their class. The Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics must approve release time in excess of 15% of the scheduled contact hours. Athletic Academic Advisors will prepare release letters for student-athletes to provide to their professors.
