Tuition Waivers for University Affiliated Personnel - 4F2
SUPERVISION OF STUDENT TEACHING
(The effective date of this policy is August 16, 2023, and applies to waivers issued beginning in Fall 2023.)
Tuition for non-doctoral graduate-level course work shall be waived for persons who serve as "cooperating teachers or administrative mentors" in the SIUE teacher education, school service personnel, and education administration programs in the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior (SEHHB). For supervision and student observation of 30 to 89 hours, 1 hour of tuition will be waived. For 90 hours or above, 3 hours of tuition will be waived. Each waiver must be used within three semesters of its issuance. Waivers may be transferred to other full-time employees who are state-licensed educators, including paraprofessionals, teacher/s, school support personnel, and administrators within the district in which the cooperating teacher or administrative mentor works. For the original recipient or for users who do not already have a Professional Educator License (PEL), usage is not limited. For all other transferred waivers, only 12 hours of waivers may be used per person towards a given program and a maximum of 6 credit hours may be applied in a given year. The Dean of the SEHHB is responsible for monitoring the proper use of the waivers. Programs may offer a stipend in lieu of a waiver.
