Admission Requirements
Admission to the School of Engineering
First-time freshmen students that meet ONE of the following criteria will be automatically admitted to SIUE and eligible for Direct Entry to the the School of Engineering. Current University admission standards are:
- Cumulative 2.6 high school GPA (4.0 scale)
- Cumulative 2.0 high school GPA (4.0 scale) AND 990 SAT ERW + M OR 19 ACT
- Rank in Top 10% high school graduating class
Transfer students who have attempted at least 30 semester hours in courses at accredited institutions will be automatically admitted to SIUE and eligible for Direct Entry to the School of Engineering provided they have earned a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (4.0 scale) in coursework at the previous accredited school(s) attended.
Transfer students who have attempted fewer than 30 semester hours in courses at accredited institutions must meet transfer admission criteria AND first-time freshmen criteria to be automatically admitted to SIUE and eligible for Direct Entry to the School of Engineering.
To be admitted to the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts program in Computer Science, students must:
- Be eligible to enroll in MATH 125 – Pre-calculus or higher.
- Maintain a grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Transfer
Transfer students should contact the Engineering Student Services office for a review of credentials and placement at least 30 days before the beginning of the term for which entry is desired. Credit will be reviewed using the following guidelines:
- A minimum grade of C is required in all chemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, and engineering science courses applied to major or minor requirements.
- 300- or 400-level engineering course requirements will not be considered for transfer unless completed within 10 years within an ABET-accredited engineering program.
