Admission Requirements
First-time freshmen students that meet ONE of the following criteria will be automatically admitted to SIUE and eligible for Direct Entry to the Mass Communications (MC) major in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). Current University admission standards are:
- Cumulative 2.6 high school GPA (4.0 scale)
- Cumulative 2.0 high school GPA (4.0 scale) AND 990 SAT ERW + M OR 19 ACT
- Rank in Top 10% high school graduating class
Transfer
Transfer students who have attempted at least 30 credit hours in courses at regionally accredited institutions are admissible in good standing, provided they have earned a minimum cumulative 2.0 (C) grade-point average in such course work at the previous accredited school(s) attended.
Transfer students who have attempted fewer than 30 credit hours in courses at accredited institutions must meet transfer admission criteria AND first-time freshmen criteria to be automatically admitted to SIUE and eligible for Direct Entry to the Mass Communications major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Students who choose to take one or more classes at another institution and apply that credit to an SIUE degree should obtain prior approval for the course from the appropriate academic advisor to make sure the course is acceptable for program credit.
- Mass Communications majors: A maximum of 18 credit hours of transferred mass communications coursework could be applied to the Mass Comm degree program
- Mass Communications minors: A maximum of nine credit hours of transferred mass communications coursework could be applied to 18-hour program.
