Minor Requirements
The minor program in physics consists of at least 20 hours with a GPA of 2.0 or higher in the following courses:
Required Courses
- PHYS 151 – University Physics I
- PHYS 152 – University Physics II
- PHYS 151L – University Physics I Laboratory
- PHYS 152L – University Physics II Laboratory
- PHYS 201 – University Physics III
- PHYS 201L – University Physics III Laboratory
- PHYS 251 – Waves
And at least one of the following
- PHYS 230 – Planetary and Solar System Astronomy
- PHYS 240 – Introduction to Biomedical Physics
- PHYS 304 – Intro to Quantum Physics
- PHYS 314 – Modern Data Acquisition
- PHYS 318 – Theory & Application of Electronic Measure
- PHYS 320 – Special Relativity
- PHYS 321 – Mechanics
- PHYS 323 – Statistical Mechanics
- PHYS 406 – Electromagnetic Fields and Waves
- PHYS 410 – Optics
- PHYS 416 – Quantum Mechanics
- PHYS 419 – Mathematical Physics
- PHYS 430 – Intro to Physics Education Research
- PHYS 450 – Solid State Physics
At least six hours of the above courses must be SIUE credit. The physics undergraduate advisory committee must approve any exceptions to the requirements listed above for the physics minor program.
