Social Science Teacher Education
SIUE offers a variety of programs that lead to a teaching certificate. Within the Social Sciences, a student can major in Geography, History or Political Science to pursue a teaching certificate.
A Secondary Education certificate in Social Studies through Geography requires a major in Geography, a Social Sciences Minor (see below), and professional education courses through the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior.

The Social Sciences minor spans the areas outside the major that a student with a Social Sciences teaching certificate should be prepared to teach. The listing below details the requirements for the minor:
