SIUE Faculty Earn “Top Paper” and “Top Panel” Honors at Annual Convention
Eight Southern Illinois University Edwardsville faculty members and graduate students have been selected to present a paper or serve as a panelist at the Central States Communication Association’s (CSCA) annual convention to be held on April 14-19 in Chicago. These presenters represent SIUE’s Department of Applied Communication Studies (ACS) and Department of Mass Communications.At each convention, the CSCA board of directors and a review committee select the top paper or panel within each category. Among the SIUE presenters include a top paper, “Understanding and Accurately Assessing Extreme Weather Risk: An IDEA Model Analysis of Hurricane Dorian Risk Communication Messages,” submitted by ACS Assistant Professor Deborah Sellnow-Richmond, and a top panel, “Breaking-Through on Tough Topics: Teaching Practices that Encourage Students to Discuss Difficult Topics,” submitted by ACS Instructor Stephanie Batson.
