Study the Environment
Environmental Sciences was founded as an SIUE Program in 1975, offering a Master of Science (MS) in Environmental Sciences, and the Professional Science Master's (PSM) in Environmental Science Management. In 2017, Environmental Sciences became a full-fledged academic department within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department now offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, and an undergraduate minor, as well as a cooperative PhD in Environmental Resources and Policy.
Employment of environmental scientists and specialists is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations in the U.S. Heightened public interest in the hazards facing the environment, as well as the increasing demands placed on the environment by population growth, is expected to spur demand for environmental scientists and specialists.
