Aquatics Program Descriptions
Adult Swim Lessons
Level 1: Comfort in the Water
Feeling calm, comfortable, and confident in an aquatic environment is essential to remaining safe while still having fun. This level gives its participants the opportunity to work with an instructor and develop a higher level of comfort in and around the water. Simple skills learned during this level include water safety topics, self-rescue techniques, recovery positions in the water, and basic water skills (floats, glides, body position in the water, holding breath, etc.) Instructors in this level give hands-on support to participants throughout the class length in the water for the entire period.
Level 2: Basic Skills
Level 2 allows the participants of the class to begin learning basic swimming skills and strokes of the front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke. This class builds on the information covered in Level 1, and encourages participants to continue building a confidence and comfort level in the water. Breathing techniques for each stroke are also introduced to the participants to allow for smoother movement through the water. Instructors in this level guide participants through the sessions with a hands-on approach while allowing the participants to become more self-aware of their bodies in the water.
Level 3: Intermediate
For individuals who want to build on their swimming skills even further, level 3 offers its participants with the opportunity to expand and improve their basic strokes of front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke while learning additional skills such as dolphin kicks, flip turns, and additional drills for each stroke. Instructors in this level lead through a hands-off approach for the majority of the class while remaining in the water to ensure participant safety and understanding. Endurance, rotary breathing, and timing are main focus points during this level.
